# About Me
I’m JP Fontenele, a software engineer specializing in backend development and DevOps. I build systems that stay up when things go wrong.
What I Do
My work centers on the infrastructure that powers production systems: deployment pipelines that don’t cause outages, database migrations that don’t break running applications, and observability that actually helps you find problems at 3 AM.
I spend most of my time thinking about:
- Zero-downtime deployments and the patterns that make them possible
- Distributed systems resilience including circuit breakers, retries, and graceful degradation
- Observability with OpenTelemetry, tracing, and metrics that matter
- Cloud infrastructure on AWS, with a focus on cost optimization
- Backend services primarily in Go
Why This Blog
I write about the problems I’ve encountered and the solutions that actually worked. No theoretical fluff, just practical patterns you can apply to your own systems.
If you’re dealing with deployment headaches, database migration fears, or trying to make sense of distributed system failures, you’re in the right place.
